We sadly miss Spindle investor and first Senior Advisor, Kim Hammonds. Mrs. Hammonds was a brilliant executive, mentor, and force of nature who—true to her nature—was attending Board meetings via Zoom links until just a few days before she passed away at her home on Anna Maria Island in Florida. She was 55 years old.
Following a diagnosis of breast cancer in her mid-30’s, Mrs. Hammonds founded The Zoë Foundation to provide art therapy for cancer patients around the country. After she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in April 2019, she raised millions for the foundation and assigned friends to carry on with fundraising work. Her legacy lives on in their continued dedication to that cause.
Previously, Mrs. Hammonds served on the Board of Directors of Zoom, Box, Cloudera, UiPath, Red Hat, Segment (acquired by Twilio), Tenable, and Deutsche Bank. She was also Chief Operating Officer at Deutsche Bank, and previously Global Chief Information Officer and Global Co-Head of Group Technology and Operations at Deutsche Bank.
Mrs. Hammonds joined Deutsche from Boeing, where she served as Chief Information Officer and led a program to use IT to transform airplane manufacturing production and boost company revenues. During her five-year tenure with Boeing, Mrs. Hammonds served as Vice President of Information Technology Infrastructure and Vice President of Business Systems. Kim joined Boeing from Dell, where she worked as Director of Information Technology.
With more than 30 years’ experience—including a post as Divisional Chief Information Officer and CIO of North America Operations at the Ford Motor Company—Mrs. Hammond’s career spanned both technology and operations for some of the world's largest companies in the most challenging industries. Kim held a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from Western Michigan University. We miss her dearly.
