Angad Nadkarni is an AI engineer, systems architect, and entrepreneur dedicated to building high-performance intelligence frameworks that power the next generation of enterprise applications. Most recently Principal Engineer at Lightning AI—building multi-machine GPU environments for Deep Learning—Angad formerly invented the Computation Engine at Spindle’s downmarket competitor & sister company Causal (acquired by Lucanet), where he was a Founding Engineer. He formerly served as CTO & Co-Founder of AI voice engine Hullo, whose Fortune 500 customers included Pillpack (Amazon), Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), and others.
As an AI & Agentic Systems Engineer at Spindle AI (spindle.ai), Mr. Nadkarni collaborates with co-founders Carson Kahn, Ryan Atallah, and the Mathematical Computing team to ship the agentic frameworks and Skills Graph technology that enable Spindle’s generative analytics to be performant, intelligent, and fault-tolerant. His innovation focuses on helping both LLM-based and human analysts reliably manipulate multidimensional data & numbers to create high-fidelity, large-scale analyses — reducing complex analytical workflows that once took months down to a matter of hours or minutes.
Mr. Nadkarni began building web applications at 12 years old. He first gained notoriety for hacking into India’s then-largest gaming company, Disney subsidiary India Games. Impressed, the company’s CEO later became Mr. Nadkarni’s first angel investor when, at 18, he founded & raised funding for India-based EdTech startup Examify, growing to over 200,000 users nationwide. He later served as co-founder and CTO of Hullo, an enterprise AI voice technology platform whose blue-chip customers included some of the largest healthcare and insurance companies in the United States.
Following the pandemic, Mr. Nadkarni exited Hullo and joined Spindle sister company Causal (causal.app), an FP&A platform for SMBs, as a Founding Engineer. There, he scaled the company’s computation engine, growing its processing capacity from 50,000 cells to 500 million cells in under 30 seconds. Praised in the incremental computing and Golang communities alike, this work was instrumental in creating Causal’s industry-renowned financial modeling system, advancing the company’s later acquisition by Lucanet.
Driven by the conviction that generative AI represents the defining technological opportunity of our time, Mr. Nadkarni later joined Lightning AI, a widely adopted open-core AI company backed by over $100m in funding from NVIDIA, Index Ventures, Coatue, and Bain. Moving from London to Silicon Valley for his role as Principal Engineer for Lightning AI Studio, his time at Lightning deepened his expertise in AI infrastructure, setting the stage for his work at Spindle AI.
Mr. Nadkarni's has been recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 India and India Today’s 25 Under 25 lists. He was also a featured speaker at TEDx Gateway in Mumbai, Asia’s largest TEDx event.
Beyond engineering, Mr. Nadkarni is a dedicated cinephile. Growing up in Mumbai, the cinema capital of the East, he developed a deep appreciation for world cinema, immersing himself in Japanese, French, and Iranian films. He’s also an avid reader and cycling enthusiast and loves exploring all kinds of brews from coffee to whiskey. Now based in Mountain View, California, he continues to push the boundaries of AI while pursuing his love for film, literature, and adventure. ∎
